The classic Italian dessert Tiramisu gets a festive twist with the rich, warm flavor of mulled wine. Perfect for holiday dinners or as a cozy dessert to share with family and friends.

Ingredients (6–8 servings):

  • 250 g mascarpone cheese
  • 3 eggs (separate yolks and whites)
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 200 ml mulled wine (glögg), preferably classic or with orange flavor
  • 100 ml strong coffee, cooled
  • 200 g savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers)
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Optional: orange zest or lingonberries for decoration

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the base:
Brew the coffee and allow it to cool. Mix the cooled coffee with the mulled wine in a bowl to create the dipping liquid for the biscuits.

  2. Make the mascarpone cream:
Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar in a bowl until light and fluffy. Add the mascarpone cheese and beat until smooth.

  3. Whip the egg whites:
Whisk the egg whites to stiff peaks in a separate bowl. Gently fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture using a spatula to keep the mixture airy.

  4. Assemble the tiramisu:
Quickly dip the savoiardi biscuits into the mulled wine and coffee mixture (they should absorb the liquid but not become too soggy). Arrange a layer of dipped biscuits in the bottom of a dish or individual serving glasses.

  5. Layer the cream:
Spread a layer of mascarpone cream over the biscuits. Repeat the process with another layer of dipped biscuits and finish with a final layer of cream.

  6. Refrigerate:
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld together.

  7. Decorate and serve:
Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder. For an extra festive touch, garnish with orange zest or a few fresh lingonberries.

Tips:

  • For a more grown-up flavor, add a splash of rum or brandy to the mulled wine and coffee mixture.

  • To make it vegan, use vegan mascarpone and replace the eggs with whipped coconut cream.

This tiramisu with mulled wine is a delightful fusion of Italian elegance and Nordic winter warmth – a dessert guaranteed to impress! 🎄✨
