Tiramisu Ingredients:
- 250 g mascarpone
- 250 ml heavy whipping cream
- 100 g granulated sugar
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 orange (zest and juice)
- 200 ml mulled wine (rich, spiced)
- 200 g savoiardi biscuits (ladyfingers)
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp cardamom
- Optional: dark chocolate, finely chopped or shaved, for decoration
Instructions:
-
Prepare the orange and mulled wine mix: Zest the orange and squeeze the juice. Combine the orange juice with the mulled wine in a shallow bowl, which will be used later for dipping the savoiardi biscuits.
-
Make the mascarpone cream: In a mixing bowl, whisk the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy. Gently fold in the mascarpone and orange zest until smooth.
-
Whip the cream: In a separate bowl, whip the cream until it holds soft peaks. Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture to create a light, airy texture.
-
Layer the tiramisu: Briefly dip each savoiardi biscuit into the mulled wine and orange mixture. Place a layer of dipped biscuits at the bottom of a square dish (approx. 20x20 cm or similar). Spread a layer of the mascarpone cream over the biscuits.
-
Build the layers: Repeat the process with another layer of dipped savoiardi biscuits, and finish with a final layer of mascarpone cream on top.
-
Add festive flavor: Sift a light layer of cocoa powder mixed with cinnamon and cardamom over the top for a Christmassy touch.
-
Chill and serve: Cover the dish and refrigerate the tiramisu for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld. Just before serving, you can garnish with shaved dark chocolate for a luxurious finish.
Tips:
- For a non-alcoholic version, substitute with alcohol-free mulled wine.
- If you enjoy extra-spicy flavors, sprinkle a bit more cinnamon or cardamom on top just before serving.
Enjoy your Christmas tiramisu – a perfect holiday dessert!
