There are many great Gin and Tonic recipes out there, but this one is one of my absolute favorites.

Ingredients:

  • 50ml (1.7 oz) high-quality gin (such as Hendrick's, Tanqueray No. Ten, or Bombay Sapphire)
  • 150ml (5 oz) premium tonic water (such as Fever-Tree or Q Tonic)
  • Ice (large cubes lasts much longer, or a large ice sphere)
  • Garnish: Lime wedge, lemon twist, or cucumber slices (depending on the gin's botanical profile)
  • Optional: A sprig of fresh rosemary or a few juniper berries for an aromatic touch

Instructions:

  1. Chill Your Glass: Place your glass (a highball or a large balloon glass works best) in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and water to chill.

  2. Add Ice: Fill the chilled glass with large ice cubes or a large ice sphere. Larger ice melts more slowly, keeping your drink colder for longer without diluting it too much.

  3. Pour the Gin: Add 50ml (1.7 oz) of your chosen high-quality gin over the ice.

  4. Add the Tonic: Slowly pour 150ml (5 oz) of premium tonic water into the glass. Pouring it slowly down a bar spoon or the side of the glass helps preserve the carbonation.

  5. Garnish: Add a garnish that complements the botanical profile of your gin.

    • For a classic London Dry gin, a lime wedge or lemon twist works well.
    • For Hendrick's gin, try cucumber slices.
    • You can also add a sprig of fresh rosemary or a few juniper berries for an aromatic touch.
  6. Stir Gently: Give the drink a gentle stir to mix the ingredients without losing too much carbonation.

  7. Serve and Enjoy: Your perfect Gin & Tonic is now ready to be enjoyed! Sip and savor the harmonious blend of flavors.

Tips for the Perfect Gin & Tonic:

  • Quality Ingredients: Use the best gin and tonic water you can find. The quality of these ingredients greatly affects the final taste.
  • Glass Choice: A highball or balloon glass allows for better appreciation of the aromas and provides room for ice and garnishes.
  • Ice Quality: Use clear, large ice cubes to reduce dilution and keep your drink cold longer.
  • Garnish Thoughtfully: The garnish should complement the gin's botanicals and enhance the overall flavor and aroma of the drink.

Enjoy your ultimate Gin and Tonic!
