Taste, movement, and community in the middle of winter

Winter can feel quiet compared to summer, especially when you’re craving something to look forward to. Winter Wine Run brings together three things many people love: fresh-air running, local wine, and the kind of shared experience that’s easy to talk about long after the day is over.

What is Winter Wine Run?

Winter Wine Run is a wine-run experience on Sweden’s Kulla Peninsula in northwestern Skåne. You run an approximate 10K route that takes you through vineyard landscapes, with four scheduled stops for wine tasting along the way. The tastings are designed as natural breaks where you can slow down, take in the surroundings, and learn about the producers and the wines.

Date and start time for Winter Wine Run 2027

The 2027 edition is confirmed:
Saturday, January 23, 2027
Start time: 2:00 PM

Second year running on the Kulla Peninsula

The event launched in 2026, which makes 2027 the second year in a row. That often means a smoother flow, clearer logistics, and an even better overall experience as the concept settles into place.

How the day works

This is positioned as an experience rather than a race. You’re encouraged to keep a comfortable pace, enjoy the stops, and treat the day as a winter outing with wine at the center. The age limit is 18+, and participants are responsible for their own insurance.

The course and terrain: what to expect

The route includes mixed surfaces such as asphalt, gravel, and sections through vineyard fields. In wet winter conditions, parts can be soft or muddy, which is worth keeping in mind when choosing shoes and planning your pace.

Starts and tasting stops

Starts take place from several locations, and many participants set off from the hotel they’ve booked. Along the route you’ll make four wine-tasting stops, which helps keep the mood social and relaxed rather than competitive.

Registration for 2027: limited spots

Registration is open for 2027 and is primarily sold through participating hotel packages that may combine the run with food and accommodation. A total of 350 spots are released for 2027. In addition, 100 “run only” spots are planned to be released later in the summer.

Hotel packages: what can be included

Package content varies by hotel, but it can include the entry/start, four wine tastings, dinner, overnight stay, and breakfast. For many, the package format is what turns the event into a mini getaway rather than a single afternoon activity.

Who is this for?

Winter Wine Run is a strong match if you:
• Enjoy combining experiences: running plus tasting and conversation
• Like vineyard settings and local producers
• Want a winter activity that feels like a day trip or weekend escape, even if you’re only visiting for the day

Practical tips that make a big difference

Choose shoes with grip

Mixed terrain and potential mud in the vineyards make traction and stability more important than speed.

Dress for stop-and-go

You’ll alternate between running and standing still at tastings. Layering makes it easy to regulate temperature.

Eat a solid meal before the start

The tastings are not a substitute for energy. Aim for a proper lunch 2–3 hours before you begin.

Plan your transport home early

Wine is served during the event, so sort out accommodation or a safe ride home when you book.

Safety and responsibility

Adjust your pace to the conditions, especially where the ground can be uneven in vineyard sections. Participants are responsible for their own insurance.

Why the Kulla Peninsula feels extra special in winter

The Kulla Peninsula is known for dramatic coastal nature and a growing local food-and-drink scene. In January, the contrast between winter vineyards and crisp sea air is a big part of the charm. Add four tasting stops and a welcoming social atmosphere, and you get a winter day that feels active, warm, and memorable—exactly when you might need it most.
