Homemade ice cream with frozen fruit – how it works
The easiest way to make creamy ice cream at home is to blend frozen fruit into a thick, smooth texture. Banana adds extra creaminess and natural sweetness, but you can also use mango or pineapple. Serve right away, or freeze briefly for a firmer, scoopable texture.
Base recipe: banana ice cream with cocoa and vanilla
This is a reliable base you can keep coming back to.
2 frozen bananas (sliced)
0.5–1 dl milk or a milk alternative
1–2 tbsp cocoa powder
0.5–1 tsp vanilla (vanilla sugar or vanilla powder)
A pinch of salt
Blend the bananas first, then add liquid little by little. For a scoopable result, freeze for 20–30 minutes after blending.
Tips for a creamy texture (without turning it into a smoothie)
Freeze fruit in small pieces for at least 6 hours.
Blend frozen fruit first for 20–30 seconds, then add liquid slowly.
Stop and scrape down the sides so the texture turns smooth and airy.
For extra creaminess: add 1–2 tbsp yogurt/quark or 1 tbsp nut butter.
For a firmer texture: freeze briefly after blending and stir before serving.
