Emelie Maria create illustrations and paintings for books, covers, print materials, and posters, using a blend of techniques. Her process often involves traditional gouache or watercolor, combined with digital illustrations that I hand-paint on an iPad.
Her inspiration is drawn from the untamed landscapes of Jämtland—the mountains, forests, and lakes—and also from the smaller, everyday details that surround me. She find beauty in the way the seasons change my garden, the steam rising from a warm cup of tea, or the subtle hues in a forest glade. I’m equally inspired by the way children view the world with open curiosity and wonder.
Emelies illustrations are known for their playful spirit, often with a hint of whimsy and small details that invite the viewer to linger and discover something new each time.
