There are hotels you simply check into. And then there are hotels that turn the entire stay into an experience — even if you never leave the building. At Six, located on Brunkebergstorg in central Stockholm, is definitely the latter.

One of the main reasons we chose Hotel At Six was its location. Just a short walk from T-Centralen, Stockholm’s central hub for trains, subways, and airport transfers. Whether you're heading to Stureplan, Kungsholmen, Södermalm, or the cobbled charm of Gamla Stan, you're perfectly placed. Truly, there’s no better starting point for a weekend in the city.

The building that houses At Six was once a bank headquarters — a grand but imposing piece of concrete brutalism. Today, it’s something completely different. A bold vision has transformed the space into a new kind of hotel, one that blends luxury with a distinctive personality. It’s refined, yes, but never conventional. This is elegance with a twist.

Right in the middle of the urban bustle, At Six has carved out a world of its own — a calming, contemporary space where design, hospitality, and atmosphere come together. From the moment you step into the lobby, with its curated artwork, mellow soundscape and moody lighting, you feel transported. Maybe to Berlin. Maybe Tokyo. But definitely still in Stockholm.

A reason to come together

At Corkframes, we’re a small team spread across different cities in Sweden. So when five of us gathered in Stockholm for a weekend of team-building, good food and shared experiences, we needed a base that offered both comfort and inspiration. At Six was exactly that — a place to laugh, work, relax and reconnect.

The room with a view

We were split between floor 15 and floor 13, and every room offered beautiful views over the rooftops and Brunkebergstorg. That said, floor 15 had floor-to-ceiling windows, the city stretched out in quiet layers beyond the glass — Stockholm at its best.

The rooms are just the right size. Not oversized, but smartly designed and tastefully decorated in soft, natural tones. For those seeking even more peace, there are rooms facing the hotel’s quiet inner courtyard — just as elegant, but with a different kind of stillness. There’s truly a room for every mood.

Breakfast: generous and well-executed

The breakfast at At Six is worth getting out of bed for. The setting is refined but relaxed — dark woods, soft lighting, and just the right level of background noise. It’s a space you want to linger in. And we did.

The selection is both classic and thoughtfully curated. We especially appreciated the freshly cut fruit — juicy orange slices, sweet melon, and more, beautifully presented. The crispy, perfectly cooked bacon was a standout, and the omelette with a touch of heat was so good we went back for seconds.

Add to that homemade bread, chia puddings in glass jars, and strong really good coffee — and you’ve got a breakfast that feels more like a real meal than a morning routine. It easily gets top marks from us.

The restaurant: At Six Dining Room

If you choose to stay in for dinner, At Six Dining Room won’t disappoint. The menu is seasonal, with international influences and Nordic roots. Dishes are beautifully composed and full of layered flavour.

But it’s not just the food that shines. The wine and drinks list is clearly curated with care and truly impressed on us, favouring quality. We all tried different pairings and were impressed — from classic European selections to natural wines and a surprisingly strong selection of Champagne. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, offering thoughtful recommendations without ever being pushy.

This is a restaurant that feels effortless, yet intentional. Much like the hotel itself — stylish but never stiff, elegant but always warm.

The gym – clean, stylish and functional

For those who want to fit in a workout, the gym in the basement is a hidden gem. It’s sleek, modern, and has everything you need — from treadmills and weights to space for stretching. And just like the rest of the hotel, it’s designed with aesthetics in mind. A space that makes it easier to stick to your routine — or maybe even enjoy it.

TAK – dining and cocktails with a skyline

Above the hotel, you’ll find TAK — a destination in itself. This rooftop restaurant and bar blends Japanese and Nordic influences in both kitchen and concept. When we visited, there happened to be a sake festival, adding an extra layer to the experience. But even without special events, TAK is worth a visit for the panoramic city views alone.

Stockholm Under Stjärnorna – the summer rooftop hub

On the same rooftop, you’ll also find SUS (Stockholm Under Stjärnorna) – one of the city’s largest and most vibrant rooftop bars. Some would even call it the very best.

While we were there, we heard about an exciting new addition for the summer: SUS Live – a series of concerts every Wednesday all summer long, starting on May 28. It sounds like summer 2025 is set to be something special, with even more music, DJs, movie nights, and pop-ups. An urban oasis with evening sun, rooftop views, and a truly great vibe.

Thoughtful details – and a fan when you need it

It’s the little things that count, and At Six gets that. Like the ice machine in the hallway, which came in handy when we wanted a quiet nightcap in the room.

And if we really had to name one tiny drawback — the room felt a bit warm. Then again, I’m the kind of person who sleeps with the window open in February. Still, I called the front desk and within minutes, a staff member arrived with a fan. Problem solved, smoothly and professionally.

A place worth returning to

What makes At Six so special isn’t just the rooms, the art or the restaurants — it’s the feeling that everything has been carefully considered. Every detail has a purpose. And it all works together to create stillness, even in the middle of a city that never stops moving.

We checked out with a little sake in our system, a little spring sun on our faces — and that lovely sense of having been on a journey, even though we never left Stockholm. And yes, we’ll absolutely be back. Preferably on floor 15, with coffee in hand and the rooftops stretching out below.
