Affogato is a simple yet luxurious Italian dessert that combines two of life's greatest pleasure - ice cream and coffee.

Perfect as an elegant end to a meal or a quick afternoon indulgence!

Ingredients (for 1 serving):

  • 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream (or another flavor like hazelnut or chocolate for variation)

  • 1 double shot of espresso (about 50–60 ml), freshly brewed and hot

  • Optional toppings: grated chocolate, cocoa powder, chopped nuts, or biscotti on the side.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the coffee:
    Brew a double shot of espresso (or a single shot if you prefer a milder flavor). The coffee should be freshly brewed and hot.

  2. Serve the ice cream:
    Place one scoop of vanilla ice cream in a small bowl or a glass with low edges.

  3. Pour over the coffee:
    Gently pour the hot espresso over the ice cream. Watch as the ice cream starts to melt and mix with the coffee, creating a perfect balance of hot and cold.

  4. Garnish (optional):
    Sprinkle some grated chocolate, a pinch of cocoa powder, or chopped nuts on top for added texture and flavor. If desired, serve with a biscotti or another small cookie on the side.

  5. Enjoy immediately:
    Serve the affogato right away while the ice cream is cold and the coffee is still hot. That contrast is what makes this dessert so delightful!
