One of Sweden’s most anticipated Christmas drinks has been revealed. Blossa 26, the 2026 edition of the iconic Swedish annual glögg, takes its inspiration from Mexico – combining traditional glögg spices with fresh lime and subtle smoky notes of agave.

For more than two decades, Swedish glögg producer Blossa has released a new limited annual edition ahead of the Christmas season. Each year comes with a new flavour, destination and bottle design, and the launch has become something of a seasonal tradition on the Swedish market.

For 2026, the journey crosses the Atlantic to Mexico.

Swedish glögg meets the margarita

Blossa 26 draws inspiration from one of Mexico’s most famous cocktails: the margarita.

The new edition combines Blossa’s traditional Christmas spices with fresh lime and agave, creating an unusual meeting between Scandinavian Christmas traditions and Mexican flavours. The alcoholic version is a white fortified-wine glögg with an alcohol content of 15%, and an alcohol-free version is also being released.

It may sound like an unexpected combination, but that is very much the idea behind Blossa’s annual releases. Since 2011, the Swedish brand has increasingly looked around the world for inspiration, previously visiting flavours and destinations ranging from India and Morocco to Spain and Hawaii.

A different kind of Christmas drink

While traditional Swedish glögg is often served warm with raisins and almonds, Blossa 26 also lends itself to a slightly less conventional approach.

With its lime and agave character, this year’s edition brings a distinctly fresher expression to the Swedish Christmas table. Think Swedish Christmas meets Mexican margarita – an unlikely combination that could prove to be one of the more interesting drinks of the 2026 festive season.

For international readers, it is worth noting that Blossa 26 is primarily a Swedish-market release and part of the long-running Swedish tradition surrounding Blossa’s annual glögg.
